Having not played any official game since joining the team at the start of the season, Kaizer Chiefs’ pair, defender Nkanyiso Shinga and midfielder Ethan Chislett, are expected to play a part in January.

Insiders close to the club have revealed to Soccer Laduma that with a tight schedule in the second round, they need a big squad and all players, including Shinga and Chislett. The source has further revealed that the club will not be loaning them out.

“You understand what’s happening here. We need a rotation. It’s really too much. Let me give you an example. Just from the up to the end of January. We are going to play four games. On 20th against Golden Arrows. We travel, then we travel to play Sekhukhune on the 25th. The 27th, we’re playing Marumo Gallants. And then that weekend, we’re playing Zesco.

“It’s four games in 11 days. Where are you going to get those players? And some will be injured. No, and that’s not it. Wednesday, if we play Nedbank, then play Al-Masry on the next game. And then play the fifth game to Egypt to play Zamalek. So the team won’t even get a chance to train,” the source told Soccer Laduma.

The insider further stated that there are also injuries and suspensions which will require the team to have the big squad and almost all the players.

“And there are injuries, there’s suspensions. So, we will need all the players that we have and even maybe more,” the source told Soccer Laduma.

Both Shinga and Chislett were signed at the start of the season, and apart from goalkeepers Bruce Bvuma and Bontle Molefe, they are the only ones yet to feature for the team in any official game this season, as Happy Mashiane and Samkelo Zwane have been loaned out to Siwelele FC.
