After Chippa United parted ways with former head coach Luc Eymael, Soccer Laduma looks at the coaches who have had the shortest stints at The Chilli Boys.

Eymael’s stay in Gqeberha was only two months, as only one win during his tenure cost him his job, leaving United at the bottom of the Betway Premiership.

The 2025/26 season has already added to the list of coaches who have had the shortest stays at Chippa, after Sinethemba Badela was at the helm for only the first month of the campaign, before he was replaced by Eymael.

Since being promoted in 2012, The Chilli Boys Chairman Siviwe Mpengesi has built a bad reputation of not giving coaches chances, after he relieved former coach Manqoba Mngqithi from his post, just two months into the job and two months into their debut season.

Since then, the likes of Joel Masutha spent only one month in charge of Chippa between December of 2018 and January 2019, after he was let go with only five games under his belt.

Siyabulela Gwambi also had just over a month in charge between April and May in 2021, as things did not go well after he replaced Dan Malesela, who has had multiple stints at United.

Dan Malesela also lasted one month in the winter of 2018, with the plans for the 2018/19 season out of the window after he had taken over from Vladislav Heric and was eventually replaced by Eric Tinkler.

Daine Klate is also among the list of coaches who did not settle at The Chilli Boys, as his reign lasted for two months, the first two months of the 2022/23 campaign before being shown the exit door.

After replacing Klate, Kurt Lentjies was also given the benefit of the doubt for only two months before he was removed from his post.

Chippa were also quickly unsatisfied with Kosta Papic, who was relieved of his duties at the beginning of the 2014/15 season, lasting only two months, after he had replaced Serbian compatriot Heric.
