Tyler Jacobs won a dramatic sprint finish to claim the women’s elite road race title at the 2026 SA National Championships in Midvaal, while Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio raced to a dominant time trial victory three days earlier, at the 2026 SA National Road, Time Trial and Para Championships at Rosenbush Estate in Walkerville, Midvaal, on Saturday, 8 February.
Jacobs produced the ride of her life to win the women’s elite road race, outsprinting Lisa Bone in a breathtaking photo finish, both clocking 3:51:32 after nearly four hours of racing on the demanding 14.7km circuit.
AG Insurance-Soudal’s Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio finished third just one second back, while 20-year-old Anya du Plessis took an impressive fourth on the same time.
The top ten were separated by just four seconds, with defending champion S’annara Grove (Smurfit Westrock) finishing in fifth, and African Continental road race champion Hayley Preen claiming sixth position ahead of Tiffany Keep (DAS-Hutchinson) in seventh, all on 3:51:34.
Three days earlier, Moolman-Pasio had delivered a commanding performance in the individual time trial, powering home in 39:21 over the 29.7km course to claim a sixth national ITT crown. Lucy Young was second in 40:00 and Grove third in 40:39.
The junior women’s events showcased the next generation. Madison Bateson, 17, who won the road race in a sprint finish over 18-year-old Helen Olwage, both timed at 3:03:37, with Nika Nortje third.
