UCL: Man City Sink Real, Arsenal Win Big

Real Madrid 1-2 Manchester City

Manchester City rallied from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

Kylian Mbappe was named on the bench for Los Blancos, who gave a start to young striker Gonzalo Garcia in the attack.

Los Blancos made the most of their lively start when Rodrygo latched onto a pass from Jude Bellingham before racing into the box and firing into the far corner on 28 minutes.

City weren’t behind for too long when goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois pushed Josko Gvardiol’s header into the path of Nico O’Reilly, who slotted home from close range.

The visitors completed the turnaround on 43 minutes after being awarded a penalty for Antonio Rudiger’s foul on Erling Haaland, who stepped up and converted the spot-kick.

Club Brugge 0-3 Arsenal

Arsenal ended the year top of the League Phase table following a 3-0 win over Club Brugge on Wednesday night.

The Gunners took the lead on 25 minutes through Noni Madueke, who found the back of the net with a powerful strike from distance.

The lead was doubled a minute after the halftime break when Madueke completed his brace by turning home a cross from Martin Zubimendi, before Gabriel Martinelli added the third goal in the 56th minute.

Bayer Leverkusen 2-2 Newcastle United

Bayer Leverkusen and Newcastle United played to a 2-2 draw at the BayArena on Wednesday night.

The hosts broke the deadlock after 13 minutes when Bruno Guimaraes deflected a cross into his own net from Robert Andrich’s cross.

The Magpies had to wait until the 51st minute to level matters when Anthony Gordon converted from the penalty spot.

Lewis Miley looked to have secured the win when he put Newcastle ahead on 74 minutes, but Leverkusen were able to restore parity thanks to Alejandro Grimaldo’s 86th minute strike.
