Zimbabwean football fans flooded social media with humour and emotion after Luton Town paid tribute to Marvelous Nakamba following his departure from the club.
The midfielder’s exit sparked playful reactions from supporters who jokingly claimed they were also “leaving” and unfollowing the club now that the Warriors star has moved on.
Nakamba officially parted ways with the Hatters on Monday after mutually terminating his contract, paving the way for a free transfer to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

Luton CEO Pays Tribute to ‘Special Character’
Luton Town chief executive Gary Sweet praised Nakamba’s contribution to the club, describing him as a key figure during a crucial period in their recent history.
Speaking on behalf of the club’s board, Sweet credited the midfielder for adding quality and stability when it mattered most.
He said Nakamba played an important role in Luton’s promotion push and remained a positive presence despite battling injuries, adding that the club’s doors would always remain open to him.
“Marvelous has been a huge part of our success, a special character who came to add real quality at the time we needed it to help us to promotion. He has been a pleasure to have around the Club, always smiling, even through some tough times personally with injury.
Everyone at Luton Town thanks Marv for his contribution in his three years at Kenilworth Road, he will always be a welcome visitor, and we wish him every success for his future career.

Luton Town’s tribute post quickly caught the attention of Zimbabweans, many of whom responded with tongue-in-cheek comments expressing loyalty to Nakamba rather than the club. Some fans joked that their support for Luton Town ended with the midfielder’s exit.
