Wicknell Chivayo has honoured Zimbabwean football legend Sunday Marimo “Mhofu” Chidzambwa with a brand-new 2026 Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD6 and US$20,000 in cash.
He praised the former coach’s lifelong contribution to the game.
Chivayo announced the gesture on his Facebook page, describing Chidzambwa as one of the few figures who helped shape the identity and discipline of Zimbabwean football.

Celebrating a decorated coaching career
In his tribute, Chivayo highlighted Chidzambwa’s role in transforming Dynamos FC and the Zimbabwe national team, crediting him with instilling a culture of discipline and structure wherever he coached.
Chidzambwa famously led the Warriors to their maiden Africa Cup of Nations appearance in 2004, guided the team to several other continental qualifications, and delivered Zimbabwe’s first COSAFA Cup title, followed by three more triumphs.
“Football fans knew that when the General was in charge, the team would always deliver beyond expectation,” Chivayo wrote.
‘No stars, just structure’
Chivayo paid tribute to Chidzambwa’s leadership philosophy, recalling his insistence on discipline and teamwork over individual brilliance.
His oft-quoted mantra, “no stars, just structure,” became a defining principle for generations of players who passed through his hands, cementing his reputation as a firm but humble leader.
“His famous line, “no STARS, just STRUCTURE” remains etched in the minds of every player who passed through his HANDS. He never allowed ego to eclipse teamwork. It is this firm yet humble leadership that has made him a LEGEND in football, which deserves proper recognition.
Recognition beyond the pitch
The businessman also noted Chidzambwa’s continued involvement in football development and national affairs, describing him as a patriot who remains active even in retirement.
Chivayo said he was encouraged by Chidzambwa’s public support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his participation in the Coaches 4ED initiative, which he said reflected the veteran coach’s enduring commitment to the country.
“Just recently, i was most delighted by his open support for President MNANGAGWA, as he praised His Excellency’s exceptional support to local football. Even in his twilight years, Mhofu is an avid and active member of the Coaches 4ED, which shows beyond doubt how much a PATRIOT and NATIONALIST he is, even away from the field of play.”
Details of the gift
According to Chivayo, the US$72,000 Toyota Fortuner has been fully paid for and is ready for collection at a local dealership.
In addition, Chidzambwa will receive US$20,000 in cash, which Chivayo described as a modest token for “lunch and fuel.”
