Zimbabwe Crowned Best Country to Visit in 2025 by Forbes
Zimbabwe has been recognized as the world’s best country to visit in 2025 by Forbes magazine, a leading global publication.
The accolade highlights the country’s rising appeal as a premium international tourist destination, reflecting its growing status on the global travel stage.
Tourism Sector Continues to Thrive
Despite global challenges, Zimbabwe’s tourism sector continues to show resilience.
According to a government ministry report released in September, the country recorded over 1.6 million international tourist arrivals in 2024, generating US$1.2 billion in receipts and attracting US$190.5 million in investments.
The recognition by Forbes comes as Zimbabwe strengthens its tourism offerings, including wellness travel, city hopping, and low-intensity travel experiences that appeal to diverse visitor interests.
Forbes Highlights Zimbabwe’s Iconic Attractions
In its report, Forbes described Zimbabwe as “a mosaic of rugged wild terrain and deep ancestral heritage—where jagged granite outcrops rise above sun-scorched golden plains and skies stretch wide over rustling acacia groves.”
Key attractions cited include:
- Victoria Falls – where the Zambezi River plunges into thunderous gorges, creating mist and fleeting rainbows.
- The Great Zimbabwe Monument – an ancient stone city with dry-stone walls steeped in centuries of history.
- The Eastern Highlands – offering cloud-covered slopes, winding hiking trails, and tranquil mountain scenery.
Rising Interest and International Recognition
According to the travel site KAYAK, searches for flights to Bulawayo increased by more than 80%, while Harare saw a 56% rise in 2025. Other countries featured on Forbes’ list of highly rated destinations included Lithuania, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Argentina, Morocco, and Norway.
Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi welcomed the recognition, saying it affirmed Zimbabwe’s reputation as a safe and peaceful tourist destination.
“We are overjoyed by the acknowledgement from Forbes and global travel experts,” Rwodzi told The Herald.
“As you know, it’s prestigious when you get such recognition from Forbes and it is confirmation that Zimbabwe is a safe, peaceful, war-free tourist destination.”
With this global endorsement, Zimbabwe is set to attract even more international visitors, solidifying its position as a top travel destination in 2025.
