Richards Bay co-coaching Papi Zothwane stated the team must improve their finishing following the 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday night.

The Natal Rich Boyz jumped up to ninth spot as Thulani Gumede’s second-half strike was enough to seal maximum points against the Soweto giants.

Zothwane stressed the importance of the teams converting their chances, having passed up a few good openings against Chiefs.

“Story of our game, every time we create chances and we always work on that. But we must understand that we are working with young players, sometimes the anxiety to score, they understand those,” Zothwane told SuperSport after the game.

“But they must improve, this is a high league, you must take chances because we work with goal-difference in this league so they must learn that when you get chances you must take those chances.

“Like I said, the confidence stays on the games they have lost, we had to be confident on the ball and it worked because we had to be arrogant without the ball and bully them without the ball, but I think Mthethwa made things difficult. But I think our boys gave a good fight in the second half because we wanted it more.

The Richards Bay coach claims every game now until the end of the season is a ‘cup final’.

“It was a difficult win today and that means we can’t win again because this a chance for us to win the match and we have to step up our game and I think the boys gave a good account of themselves in the second half.

“We always want to win our games because you always think what’s happening behind you and we can’t be complacent of today’s win. We’re playing another game on the 11th against Pirates so we always push to win big games and get to 30 points as quick as we can so every game for us is a cup final,” Zothwane concluded.
