Kaizer Chiefs have officially entered women’s football, unveiling their senior women’s side, Kaizer Chiefs Ladies, on Tuesday in a landmark moment for the club and the South African game, at the Brima Café, in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.
The team will compete in the Sasol Women’s League from the 2026 season, following the club’s acquisition of the Gauteng status of Springs Home Sweepers.
Head coach Unathi Mabena will lead a 24-player squad combining experience and youth. Former Banyana Banyana midfielder Mamello Makhabane headlines the group, alongside junior internationals Zanele Kunyamane and Katlego Mohale, as the club looks to build a competitive foundation.
The launch marks a significant step for Chiefs, aligning the club with CAF club licensing requirements and reinforcing its commitment to the growth of women’s football in South Africa.

Kaizer Chiefs Ladies will play home matches at both the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena and KwaThema Stadium in Springs. The team is backed by sponsor Brima Logistics, reflecting growing commercial support for the women’s game.
The long-term ambition is clear: progression from the Sasol League to the top-flight SAFA Women’s League, where they aim to compete with established sides such as Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.
